Mohammad-Hassan Naddaf (محمدحسن نداف) is a Ph.D. candidate, jointly at the Center for Theoretical Physics (CFT; Warsaw) as the primary affiliation & Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK; Warsaw), working under supervision of Prof. Bożena Czerny (under the funded by NCN MAESTRO grant “Constraints on the dark energy based on observations of active galaxies”, 2017/26/A/ST9/00756, with the ultimate goal to recruit quasars in Cosmology in order to tune cosmological constant H0).

His research in PhD career locates around the nuclei of active galaxies (AGN), with the main focus on the numerical modeling of the dynamics of material in AGNs which causes the emission line broadening in their spectra, known as Broad Line Region (BLR). The main idea comes from a non-adhoc theoretically-motivated 1D analytical model of Czerny & Hryniewicz (Failed radiatively accelerated dusty outflow: FRADO; 2011) leading to formation of low-ionized part of the BLR.

The topic of his dissertation (currently in preparation), is focused on the radiatively dust-driving acceleration of material from accretion disk, for which he developed an advanced numerical 2.5D code (not yet publicly available) in non-hydrodynamical context with a single-cloud approach to the dynamics. The results are presented in the following papers:

  • “BLR size in Realistic FRADO Model: The Role of Shielding Effect” (Naddaf et al., 2020, FrASS) on the successful preliminary test of the 2.5D FRADO with radius-luminosity relation,
  • “The Picture of BLR in 2.5D FRADO: Dynamics and Geometry” (Naddaf et al. 2021, ApJ) on the dynamical & geometrical features of the low-ionized BLR from the 2.5D code consistent with observation,
  • “Radiation pressure on dust explaining the low ionized broad emission lines in AGN” (Naddaf & Czerny, 2022, A&A) on the shape of emission line profiles from the 2.5D code consistent with observation.

There are also two more papers based on the results of 2.5D FRADO code:

  • “Nonthermal emission due to disk-clouds collisions in BLR” (Muller, Naddaf et al., 2022, ApJ), as the result of collaboration with Czech Academy of Sciences fellows,
  • “Dusty-wind as a model for broad absorption line quasars” (Naddaf et al., submitted to A&A,), as the conclusion of a grant awarded in the 2022 competition for young scientists by CFT.
