Tathagata Saha is a Ph.D. candidate at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) in Warsaw and a scholar at the Geoplanet Doctoral School.
The supervisor of his doctoral thesis is Prof. Alex Markowitz.
Tathagata studies the properties of circumnuclear matter around accreting supermassive black holes. He focuses on the gas morphology of the torus in obscured AGNs, using the X-ray observations in both otherwise non-transient and changing obscuration AGNs. At the sub-parsec scale, he studies the geometry of the accretion flow in changing look AGNs. He analyzes data from XMM-Newton, NuSTAR, Swift, Suzaku, Chandra, and eROSITA to discern the X-ray spectral properties of AGNs. He also examines optical spectra observed using various ground-based observatories to track the evolution of emission line properties of changing look AGNs.
