It is not known what is the maximum mass of a stellar origin black hole. Not long ago 10 Msun was commonly adopted as a BH mass limit. Now observations have demonstrated that a BH can reach at least 30 Msun. Can black holes reach mass above 100 Msun? I will discuss this issue along with several related physical processes to arrive at an observational prediction that will verify any potential answer to this question.
