Full professor position in observational astronomy

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK) invites applications for the position of full professor (tenured) in the field of observational astronomy.

 

We are looking for candidates who will create and lead a research group carrying out scientific programs with a significant use of ESO facilities. A substantial part of the funds for the group should come from grants obtained by the candidate.

 

A prerequisite for the application is the Polish title of professor of physical sciences. Applicants should have substantial scientific achievements, documented experience in supervising PhD students and post-docs, and a proven track record in raising funds from Polish and European institutions. Candidates may be asked to present the results of their research on a seminar given at CAMK.

 

The successful candidate will be appointed by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the position of full professor at CAMK, beginning from an individually agreed date.

 

Applicants should provide a copy of the professor diploma, curriculum vitae, a research statement (brief information concerning current research activities and plans for the future, in particular related to the requirements listed above; max. 4 pages of standard text), and at least three names of potential referees who have agreed to write letters of recommendation (eligible referees must have Polish professor title).
