Iftikhar Ahmad is a Ph.D. Candidate at the Particle Astrophysics Science and Technology Center (AstroCeNT), a unit of Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) in Warsaw, and a scholar at the Geoplanet Doctoral School.


The supervisors of his work Prof. Masayuki Wada and Prof. Leszek Roszkowski.


His research as a part of his doctoral thesis focuses on the development of ultra-pure photodetectors and light guides for dark matter direct search and neutrinoless double beta decay experiment. He is currently working with Ultrapure Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPMs) and Associated Readout Electronics group at AstroCeNT.


Ahmad’s first scientific projects were devoted to calculating the decay rate and decay time of Argon-37 which is an impurity in the DarkSide-50 experiment and to developing application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) readout electronics for ultrapure silicon photomultiplier, respectively. In 2021, he also started working on the DarkSide-20k experiment to determine the cosmogenic backgrounds from muons. In 2018, he was awarded the prestigious Scholarship in Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree in Nuclear Physics.
