Angelos Karakonstantakis is a Ph.D. candidate at the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center (CAMK) in Warsaw and a scholar at the Geoplanet Doctoral School.
Prof. Włodzimierz (Włodek) Kluźniak supervises his doctoral research.
His main research interests, corresponding to the topic of his doctoral dissertation, center on hydromagnetic simulations of accretion disks. He studies the flow of plasma as it falls into compact objects (with main emphasis on black holes). Using the General Relativistic Radiation Magnetohydrodynamics (GRRMHD) code KORAL, he performs 3-dimensional supercomputer simulations of black hole accretion disks in general relativity with the inclusion of radiation.
In 2021 he was an intern at the European Space Astronomy Center (ESAC) of ESA in Spain working with Dr. William Alston. Currently, he is involved in the National Science Center PRELUDIUM BIS project (2019/35/O/ST9/03965), "Simulations of luminous and stable black hole accretion disks", led by prof. Włodek Kluźniak.
