Telescop H.E.S.S. II has been inaugurated on July 26 2012. Built in Namibia telescope is deditated to the observations of the highest energy gamma ray photons. Ti is equiped with the 28 meters diameter mirror. H.E.S.S II is the bigest Cherenkov radiation telescope ever built. With smaller (12 meters) telescopes, built in 2004, it forms H.E.S.S. (High Energy Stereoscopic System), the best ground based gamma ray observatory.
The new telescope will allow investigation of high energy cosmic sources, such as black holes, pulsars and supernovae.
The Copernicus Astronomical Center is a member of H.E.S.S. consortium.
