The AstroGrid-PL domain grid is being built as part of the PLGrid Plus project, financed by EU structural funds, Innovative Economy Operational Programme, Measure 2.3. The Coordinator of the PLGrid Plus project is the Academic Computer Centre CYFRONET AGH, Cracow. The main contractor of the AstroGrid-PL domain grid is the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Centre, Warsaw. Maiority of the astronomical centers in Poland is involved in the development of the domain grid. Its purpose is the formation of an integrated IT platform dedicated to astronomical research, for the benefit of the whole astronomical society. Particular emphasis has been placed on the support of small scientific institutes and building of grid services, which will enable undertaking of new research challenges in cooperation with local and foreign institutions.
