Professor Grzegorz Pietrzynski has received European Research Council Advanced grant of 2.4 million Euro for "A sub-percent distance scale from binaries and Cepheids" project. This project will be conducted in the Copernicus Astronomical Center of Polish Academy of Sciences. The aim of the project is the precise and accurate calibration of the extragalactic distance scale and as the result measurement of the Hubble constant with a precision of 1%.
