Science reports a recent paper "The Origin of r-process Elements in the Milky Way", just publiscched in the Astrophysical Journal Letters. One of the authors is Krzysztof Belczyński of the Copernicus Astronomical Center in Warsaw. Subject of the work is the proces of formation of r-process elements, mainly europium and gold as a result of the merger of neutron stars. Such event has been registered by LIGO/Virgo detectors in 2017.
