For the thirtieth time the Foundation for Polish Science awarded its Prizes, which are regarded as the most important scientific distinctions in Poland. The laureates were four outstanding scientists - Professor Bożena Kamińska-Kaczmarek, Professor Jacek Jemielity, Professor Grzegorz Pietrzyński and Professor Cezary Cieśliński. Congratulations to the laureates. We are especially pleased with the award for Grzegorz Pietrzyński from the Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw.

Professor Grzegorz Pietrzyński from the Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Scienses in Warsaw received the Foundation for Polish Science Award 2021 in the field of mathematical and physical sciences and engineering for the precise determination of the distance to the Large Magellanic Cloud.
