The Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center in Warsaw, Poland, invites applications for a student scholarship funded by the Polish National Science Center. The successful applicant will collaborate with Prof. Gerald Handler on the project "Exploiting the potential of asteroseismology of binary stars" funded by the Polish National Science Center (NCN), through grant nr 2021/43/B/ST9/02972.
The studentship with an amount of 5000 PLN/month, gross is available for an initial period of 6 months with a possibility for extension.
The task of the student is to reduce and analyse time-resolved multicolour CCD photometry as well as high-resolution spectroscopy of binary systems containing hot pulsating main sequence stars. The main requirement for this position is the possession of a valid BSc degree or equivalent in astronomy (or physics, mathematics or engineering). Advantages will be: good knowledge of the English language, experience with programming, as well as experience in the analysis of CCD photometry and ground-based spectroscopy.
